What Foods Should You Avoid To Lose Weight?

carbohydrate foods

If you want to lose weight, it is better to abandon products with a high glycemic index. These carbohydrate-rich foods contribute to weight gain and are of course dangerous for diabetics.

Too much sugar in the morning leads to weight gain and fuels us a few hours after breakfast and the desire to nibble.

Foods with a high glycemic index are jam, spreads, fruit juices (fresh fruit is best), sugary industrial cereals, white bread, sandwich bread and rusks. Grain-rich products such as rusks or toasted bread often contain more sugar than fiber and grains.

Fatty meat and sausages

Eliminating meat from your diet entirely isn’t necessary to lose weight. Especially when it comes to white meat, there are very good products in the butcher’s shop. Some red meats are also excellent, especially for athletes. However, it is advisable to reduce the consumption of fatty meats and especially certain parts of several animals. Limit duck and foie gras, as well as pork feet, pork chops, and lamb chops.

Still in the meat department, watch out for the cured meats. Most preparations combine raw meat and cooked meat with lots of saturated fat and salt. As a result, this fat gets stored in your body… and inevitably leads to weight gain. So watch out for those harmful fats that can also turn into bad cholesterol and harm your cardiovascular health.

oily fish

Some fatty fish can provide interesting and useful nutrients, such as: B. Salmon. It is most often praised for its omega-3 intake, although unfortunately that of breeding is often contaminated. In this regard, give preference to anchovies or mackerel. However, the consumption of these so-called “fatty” fish should be limited to a maximum of two portions per week. Some concoctions don’t necessarily have to end up on your plate if you don’t like them. This is the case, for example, with sardines in oil, smoked fish or even dried fish. The fat dose of these fish is far too high.

Alternate your consumption of oily fish with lean fish and other protein sources. Plant-based proteins are an excellent alternative to meat and fish.

Appetizer cake

All or almost all of them contain excess calories and too much salt. You can switch to healthier appetizers that are good for your body. Crispy vegetables, for example, or biscuits with little salt and lots of grain.

The alcohol

Alcohol can also interfere with your weight loss efforts. For this reason, but also to prevent other problems, it is preferable to avoid it or radically limit our consumption.

Prefer non-alcoholic cocktails, light, made from fresh fruit. Beware of industrial fruit juices, which often contain added sugar. Better alternatives are lemon water, iced herbal teas or homemade fruit juices.
